Which Garden Upgrade Dragon Age
Dragon Age has evolved across the franchise to offer unique customizations for everything from character creation to armor crafting. InInquisition, the player character discovers Skyhold, an ancient fortress in the Frostback Mountains, while fleeing from the wreckage at Haven.
After the Inquisition sets up its base of operations at Skyhold, it becomes clear that the complex is in a state of major disrepair. However, that doesn't last, because the Inquisitor can complete quests and customize several aspects of the fortress, in addition to rebuilding ruined areas.
Available Skyhold Customizations in Dragon Age: Inquisition
Many of Skyhold's customizations, such as various thrones, banners and accessories, either become available through side quests or by completing areas of the main questline. Other customizations, like window designs, window dressings, beds and décor can be purchased from merchants in Val Royeaux's market.
A Dragon Age: Inquisitionplayer who has already completed a full playthrough can also access all previously collected items through the Golden Nug, which syncs collections from the previous game and makes all acquired items available without having to quest for or purchase them again.
After arriving at Skyhold and undergoing the player's official rise to Inquisitor status, two quests initiate: "Inquisition Trappings" and "Welcome to Skyhold." The latter quest guides the Inquisitor to visit various important areas that will become essential to gameplay going forward: The War Table and the Undercroft. "Inquisition Trappings" acts as a basic guide to customization, directing the player toward a station located in the Undercroft where various décor can be selected to reflect the Inquisition's preferred style.
Regardless of race, players can decorate Skyhold with remnants of their culture. An elven Inquisitor, for example, can choose intricate Dalish-style windows, curtains, banners, thrones and bed designs, while Qunari and dwarves are also offered items reminiscent of their heritage to make them feel more at home. There are also human options drawing from Kirkwall and Ferelden, as well as Chantry and Inquisition styles to reflect one's affiliations or power.
How to Customize Skyhold in Dragon Age: Inquisition
In order to upgrade or alter Skyhold's décor, access the tripod facing the waterfall in the Undercroft. Opening this menu reveals all options that have been acquired, while undiscovered resources will remain locked until they are found or purchased. There are no set requirements for design, which means styles can be mixed and matched across collections. For example, Dalish windows can be paired with Inquisition tapestries, the Qunari bed and Kirkwall's throne.
As the Inquisition's forces begin repairs on damaged areas of the fortress, there are three specific locations the Inquisitor can personally customize to their own preference: The gardens, the main tower and the courtyard. In order to launch the quest to customize these areas, visit the Inquisitor's personal quarters and read through the journal on the desk. This launches three collection quests detailing the items required to upgrade and complete those areas.
While Inquisitors are in their quarters, they can also visit the wardrobe to change their base clothes, which affects their appearance for all Skyhold cutscenes and traversal, but doesn't affect their armor choices.
"A Greener Garden" requires massive amounts of Spindleweed, Elfroot and Blood Lotus, as well as a logging stand. Logging stands and quarries are found throughout Thedas. After claiming them, they can be used to complete certain questlines or upgrades, but once they've been used they will no longer be available for other projects.
Once all objectives have been met, visit a requisition table to complete the quest and choose how the garden space will be utilized. The player can either make it an actual garden for growing and harvesting rare herbs, or a Chantry-focused area where resources from devoted Chantry members can be gathered. After completing the upgrade on the garden, the player will earn one power point that can be used to unlock areas on the War Table map that have yet to be explored.
Upgrades for "A Better Courtyard" call for two stone quarries, two logging stands and copious amounts of Elfroot. An inquisition focused on the fight ahead can turn the courtyard into a sparring area for the soldiers to invest their time, or it can be made into a healing area meant to treat the wounded and welcome all those seeking refuge in such trying times. This upgrade will not reward the player a power point.
"A Superior Tower" means creating a space for one's templar or mage allies to focus on their craft. Three quarries, three logging stands and three spirit essence are needed to complete this task at the requisition table, and much like the garden upgrade, the player will earn a power point for completing the tower upgrade.
Dragon Age: Inquisition's Skyhold customization options are an interesting upgrade from Dragon Age II, where Hawke had very little control over the appearance or utilization of their home in Kirkwall. It's a step in the right direction, granting the player an opportunity to explore their character and leave a lasting mark on Thedas for generations to come.
